When you explore
Guides and calculators are public. My Loan Plan calculates estimates in your browser. After you complete the questions, a draft is kept in session storage in that browser tab so you can move through sign-in without losing your work. It is cleared when you close the tab or choose “Start a new draft.” Other calculators keep entries only for the page session. Loan School stores completed lesson IDs in local storage until you clear them.
When you save a plan
Free accounts are available. Creating an account uses an email address and a verification code. Separately choosing “Save my plan” sends your school name, training stage, dates, specialty, debt balances, and scenario assumptions to your private account. These answers are used to personalize your plan and help us understand the education stages and planning needs of our users. They are not public.
We do not ask for Social Security numbers, FSA credentials, loan-account passwords, credit reports, medical records, or patient information. Do not enter these in a school-name field.
Newsletter signup
If you separately check the opt-in box and join the newsletter, your email address is sent to Beehiiv for the MedStudentLoans.org publication. Beehiiv uses it to manage the subscription and send the publication’s emails. Account creation never subscribes you automatically, and your newsletter subscription is not connected to RMR or salaryDr. Use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter to stop those emails.
Service providers and referrals
Vercel hosts the site and may process request logs, IP addresses, browser details, and essential cookies. Neon provides account authentication and database storage when accounts are enabled; the configured database is in the United States. Beehiiv provides newsletter subscription and email delivery when you opt in. These providers process information to operate the service. A sidebar preference cookie may remember navigation state.
Planner inputs are not sent to lenders. If referral partnerships are added, paid links will be disclosed and sharing personal information will require a separate, clear choice. External sites have their own privacy policies.
Measurement
Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights provide aggregate page-usage and performance measurements so we can find broken or slow pages. Calculator values, income, debt balances, and saved-plan contents are not sent as analytics event data.
If you choose “Allow analytics,” we also load Google Analytics to understand public-page visits, repeat use, and whether a planner result is completed or a plan is successfully saved. Google uses cookies to recognize a browser and processes technical information such as browser, device, approximate location, and request IP address. We send fixed public-page labels and action names, with limited referral or campaign information. We do not send your email address, account ID, school, specialty selection, loan balances, income, financial answers, or saved-plan contents to Google Analytics. Advertising personalization and Google Signals are disabled.
Google Analytics stays off until you allow it. Your preference is stored in this browser for up to 180 days; analytics cookies are also configured to expire within 180 days. Choose “Analytics preferences” at the bottom of any page, then “No thanks,” to stop future Google Analytics collection and remove its site cookies. This does not erase data already collected by Google. Your public tools and account features work without optional analytics. Clearing browser storage or using another browser may show the choice again.
Control your information
You can download your completed plan as a file. Downloads contain your entered financial information, so store them privately. In your account, you can replace your saved plan, sign out, or delete your account and saved plan. Account deletion removes the active account and saved plan; provider backups and security logs may remain for their retention periods. No lender receives your plan when you delete or download it.
On a shared device, clear the draft and sign out before leaving. Closing a browser does not guarantee all browser-restored tabs or downloaded files have been removed.
Questions and changes
Use the signed-in account controls for data deletion when available. We will update this page before changing how personal data is collected or shared. This site provides loan education and scenario illustrations; it does not manage your loan accounts.
